Mary Martha Fortney
President and Chief Executive Officer

As president and CEO of the National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors (NASCUS), Mary Martha Fortney is a nationally recognized leader in the credit union industry and a highly respected advocate for the state credit union system. As a 16-year veteran of NASCUS, she has been a pivotal figure in the association’s growth and development. Fortney joined NASCUS in 1993. She was selected NASCUS President and CEO in January 2004 after having served as acting President/CEO since August 2003. She has held various management roles in NASCUS, leading the accreditation, communications and government affairs departments during her tenure.

Before joining NASCUS, she worked for nearly four years as the Director of Agency Liaison, Office of Presidential Correspondence for the Carter White House. Fortney also spent 12 years on Capitol Hill, where she was the legislative director for a member of the U.S. House of Representatives and the majority staff director for the Subcommittee on General Oversight and Investigations of the House Committee on Banking, Finance and Urban Affairs.

Fortney is actively involved with Women in Housing & Finance (WHF), an association of men and women who actively promote women in the fields of financial services and housing through professional enrichment and leadership enhancement. Fortney is currently the organization’s Past President, having previously served in several leadership roles.  



  Jennifer Champagne
Vice President, Regulatory Development and Government Relations

Jennifer Champagne is the Vice President, Regulatory Development and Government Relations and has been a member of the NASCUS management team in various roles since 1997. In her current role, Champagne manages Regulatory Affairs special projects and monitors regulatory and legislative developments for NASCUS members. She holds a Masters in Public Administration from George Mason University and a Bachelor of Science in Anthropology and English from James Madison University.

 
  Tammy Gentilini
State Programs Coordinator

Tammy Gentilini comes to NASCUS with a wealth of customer service and administrative experience, most recently with NIGP, Inc., as Member Service Coordinator.The NASCUS State Programs Department ensures that all state examiners have access to the same quality training that NCUA examiners receive. The State Programs Coordinator's office is located at the NCUA Headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia. The SPC works closely with the NCUA Training Department and assists state examiners in registering and making arrangements for training. The SPC provides the communication link between NCUA's program offices and the states. Gentilini has a Bachelor of Arts from Averett University in Business Administration.

 
  Kate Hartig
Vice President, Communications and Public Affairs

As the Vice President of Communications and Public Affairs, Hartig manages NASCUS publications, the NASCUS Web site and media relations. She also monitors legislation and regulations affecting the state credit union system. Hartig came to NASCUS in 2005 from a position in marketing at a Washington D.C.-based business research firm. Before that, Hartig worked at the Chrysler Museum of Art, Norfolk, Virginia in special events and public relations. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies and English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

 
 

O’Neal Isom, Jr.
Director, Administrative Services and Board Relations

O’Neal Isom, Jr. joined NASCUS in October 2006 and is currently the Director of Administrative Services and Board Relations. He is responsible for managing all administrative functions in the NASCUS offices. Isom also provides critical support to NASCUS departments and staff. He also oversees NASCUS Board Governance and serves as the primary liaison for Board activities. Isom came to NASCUS after working for the Massachusetts Audubon Society as Office Manager of the Boston Nature Center in Boston, Massachusetts. From 2000 – 2003, Isom was a Computer Program Assistant managing the daily operations for the U.S. Dept. of Labors Career Assistance Center in Washington D.C. Prior to that, Isom worked in various computer and administrative support positions. He holds a Masters in Public Administration degree with a concentration in Organization and Management from Northeastern University, Boston, Massachusetts and a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts.

 
  Brian Knight
Senior Vice President, Regulatory Affairs

Brian Knight joined NASCUS in 1998 and is currently the Senior Vice President of Regulatory Affairs. Knight manages NASCUS’ state and federal regulatory analysis, serving as a resource for NASCUS members on compliance and best practices. With an extensive background in both legislative and regulatory analyses, Knight often represents NASCUS at education seminars, before state legislatures and throughout the credit union system. Brian is a graduate of Hope College and the College of William and Mary Law School. He is a member of the District of Columbia Bar.

 
  Barbara Pogue
Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs and Accreditation

Barbara Pogue joined NASCUS in 2001 and currently serves as Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs and Accreditation. She is the staff liaison to the NASCUS Performance Standards Committee and is responsible for administering the NASCUS Accreditation program, which improves and enhances the credibility of state credit union regulatory departments. She assists the NASCUS CEO on association organizational matters and, working with Credit Union Advisory Council membership advisors and the NASCUS State Liaisons, she has oversight responsibility for membership development activities and initiatives. Prior to joining NASCUS, Pogue was employed for nearly 20 years as a senior aide to a member of Congress. She also served as the government affairs and political action coordinator for an international insurance and health care risk management consulting company. Pogue has a Bachelor of Arts in History from Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

 

 

 



 

 

 

 
















 

Isaida Woo
Vice President, Member Relations and Education

Isaida Woo has been with NASCUS since 2002 and is now the Vice President, Member Relations and Education. Woo is responsible for NASCUS educational programs including the NASCUS Annual State System Summit. She is also responsible for NASCUS member relations and oversees membership activities. Woo is also the staff liaison to NASCUS' Audit and Education Committees. She holds a Masters in Business Administration from Trinity Washington University, Washington, D.C. and a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems degree from Virginia Commonwealth University.
