NASCUS to Participate in NCUA Sixth Budget Briefing and Public Forum on October 18

ARLINGTON, VA — The National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors (NASCUS) has asked to participate in the National Credit Union Administration’s (NCUA) Sixth Budget Briefing and Public Forum on October 18, 2006.

NASCUS Chair Linda Jekel, director of credit unions for Washington state, will make an oral statement on behalf of NASCUS and state regulators. The NASCUS comments will focus on budget concerns which impact state-chartered credit unions and the value of continued cooperation between state and federal regulators.

“NASCUS looks forward to this opportunity to participate in the budget process and work with the agency in its role as the share insurer of the majority of state-chartered credit unions,” said Jekel. “It is important that interested parties can provide input on the NCUA budget as a part of an open and transparent process.”

NASCUS’ full comments at the NCUA Budget Briefing will be available on the NASCUS Web page at www.nascus.org following the briefing on October 18.
