PRESS RELEASE
June 21, 2007
ARLINGTON, Va. — NASCUS welcomed two new state regulators this week at the NASCUS New Commissioner's Orientation in Washington, D.C.
During the orientation, the state regulators met with leaders from the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) and learned about the NASCUS organization, its initiatives and its mission.
“The New Commissioner’s Orientation is an important opportunity for new credit union supervisors to meet with Washington, D.C. policymakers and learn about the NASCUS resources available to them and their agency staff,” said NASCUS President and CEO Mary Martha Fortney. “We look forward to welcoming new commissioners and continuing to serve as a resource to state regulators.”
The new commissioners who joined NASCUS June 20-21 include Howard Pitkin, commissioner, Connecticut Department of Banking, and John Reardon, superintendent of financial institutions, Ohio Department of Commerce.
In addition to learning about NASCUS, the group met with NCUA Chairman JoAnn Johnson, Vice Chair Rodney Hood and Board Member and NASCUS liaison Gigi Hyland. They also met with NASCUS management to gain familiarity with association departments and their functions.
NASCUS holds its New Commissioner’s Orientation at least once a year.
