Representatives from Nearly 40 States Join NASCUS and NCUA at Annual National Regulators Meeting

CHICAGO, Ill . — Federal and state regulators, NASCUS and NCUA Board members and staff gathered in Chicago, Illinois this week for the annual NASCUS/NCUA National Regulators Meeting, March 8-10.

The National Meeting features three days of regulator-to-regulator dialogue on national policy issues, emerging trends and current examination topics. Nearly 80 state regulators attended the meeting with NCUA Board members, regional directors and staff as well as NASCUS management. The annual meeting also featured opportunities for discussion by region and for state regulator only sessions.

"The National Meeting provided a critical and timely opportunity for regulator-to-regulator discussion. NASCUS and NCUA stay in contact about credit union liquidity, the corporate system and other emerging issues during their normal course of business, but in-person dialogue is most valuable," said NASCUS Chairman George Reynolds. "State and federal regulators share a strong commitment to the safety and soundness of the entire credit union system and will continue to collaborate to protect credit unions and consumers."

Discussions on national policy issues will continue between NASCUS state regulators and NCUA in periodic conference calls and in-person at the regularly scheduled Interagency Dialogue during the NASCUS State System Summit, August 20-22, Boston, Massachusetts.
