NASCUS Hosting Annual State System Summit This Week in Nashville

The state credit union system’s leaders, state and federal regulators and dual chartering supporters will join NASCUS for its annual State System Summit this week.

NASCUS’ full schedule of events begins today, with business meetings of its leadership, which will continue to Sept. 9 with NASCUS committee meetings. The Summit follows in Nashville from Sept. 10-12. NASCUS is also hosting a Directors’ College on Sept. 12 for area Tennessee credit union directors and management.

“Some of the credit union system’s most influential leaders are featured at the NASCUS State System Summit,” said NASCUS President and CEO Mary Martha Fortney. “We expect the dialogue at this meeting to be rich with ideas about how regulators and credit unions can work together to preserve the viability of the state credit union system.”

During the Summit, attendees will hear from state and federal regulators and credit union system leaders and experts, including NCUA Board member Rick Metsger, Checkerboard Consulting Services President Al Ralston, former NCUA Board member Geoff Bacino, and Dr. Brian Branch, World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU) president and CEO, to name a few.

Summit sessions will feature discussion on such topics as loan profitability, loan participation programs, credit union service organizations, and fraud and security issues. State regulators and the NCUA will also meet for their annual Interagency Dialogue on Sept. 11 and NASCUS Credit Union members will meet that day to discuss litigation against credit unions and the legislative and regulatory landscape.

The week’s events will conclude with the NASCUS Tennessee Directors’ College, where attendees will be given an overview on national issues and will hear about cyber security and interest rate risk.

NASCUS will present its prestigious Pierre Jay Award on Sept. 11. To view the full Summit agenda, click here.
