On January 14-15, in San Diego, NASCUS held the West Coast version of its Intermediate Information Technology (IT) School. The school was attended by both state examiners and credit unions, and was taught by Tom Schauer, CEO of TrustCC. Schauer served as the trainer for NASCUS at past IT schools.
Schauer used his 22 years of IT expertise and past experience as a credit union examiner to warn and inform participants about the various aspects of IT safety and security. The event covered topics including an introduction to IT exams, network security and firewalls, incident response planning, business continuity planning, technology regulations and recommended practices, and vendor management practices. The event was evaluated positively by all who attended.
NASCUS is planning introductory, intermediate and advanced IT schools in the fall of 2008. Check www.nascus.org for updates.
