The Ohio Department of Commerce launched an initiative last week designed to help Ohioans stay in their homes.
The “Save the Dream” campaign is a foreclosure prevention program focused on public awareness and outreach to inform Ohioans about the resources available to them to avoid foreclosure.
The campaign stems from a recommendation of the Ohio Foreclosure Prevention Task Force submitted to the Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland last year. Ohio Department of Commerce Director Kimberly Zurz served on the task force and encourages Ohio’s citizens to visit the campaign’s Web site for more information.
“We strongly encourage Ohioans concerned about foreclosure to immediately contact their mortgage loan servicer, work with a HUD-approved housing counselor, and visit the Save the Dream Web site to learn more about foreclosure prevention,” she said in a March 13 press release.
Information on Save the Dream can be found here. Many states have initiated similar initiatives to stem the tide of increasing foreclosures and resetting adjustable mortgage rates.
