NASCUS Shares Priorities with Leagues

Dec. 6, 2010 — Recently, NASCUS President and CEO Mary Martha Fortney spoke to league executives at the winter meeting of the American Association of Credit Union Leagues (AACUL) and the California and Nevada Credit Union League Annual Meeting.

At AACUL, Fortney explained to league executives that supplemental capital remains a top priority for NASCUS and that we plan to continue our partnership with the leagues and the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) to work on this legislative priority for both groups.

Fortney also discussed the midterm election and its impact on federal and state levels. She explained that given the significant number of new legislators and a change in party in the U.S. House of Representatives, NASCUS will focus efforts in early 2011 on educating the new Congress on the importance of the state credit union system.

At the California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues annual meeting, former state-chartered credit union CEO and NASCUS member Diana Dykstra officially began her role as the league's President and CEO. NASCUS congratulates Dykstra on her new role and looks forward to continuing to work with her on state credit union issues.

In the last year, NASCUS has presented at numerous league events across the country and welcomes the opportunity to discuss NASCUS priorities and state system issues with leagues and credit union executives.
