NASCUS Presents at Event with State and Federal Regulators in Ohio

April 19, 2010 — At the Ohio Credit Union League Zenith10 event, NASCUS President and CEO Mary Martha Fortney joined NCUA Chairman Debbie Matz and Ohio Superintendent of Financial Institutions John Reardon to discuss the most pressing issues impacting credit unions.

The session featured an open dialogue with attendees, plus time for each presenter to share general comments. NASCUS focused its remarks on state regulators' perspective on oversight of the corporate credit union system and the progress to achieve supplemental capital for credit unions. NCUA Chairman Debbie Matz discussed regulatory issues facing credit unions and an update on the proposed corporate credit union regulation.

Superintendent Reardon and Acting Deputy Superintendent for Credit Unions Mike Wettrich spoke about the current economy in Ohio and its impact on credit unions, and the areas that the agency are focusing on for examination and supervision of state-chartered credit unions.
