Considine Confirmed as Commissioner of New Jersey Banking Agency

May 17, 2010 — Following a period of serving as Acting Commissioner, Tom Considine is now the Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance.

Prior to joining the agency, he was a vice president with MetLife legal affairs, where he managed a staff of attorneys and public policy analysts in the Government and Industry Relations Department. He spent 17 years at MetLife. Prior to his time at MetLife, he was a litigation associate at a New Jersey law firm.

"I am humbled and honored by this appointment," said Considine in an agency press release. "It is a privilege to serve the people of New Jersey. I promise to carry out my duties - protecting the state's consumers and promoting the growth and stability of the industries we regulate - fairly, conscientiously and to the best of my ability. I will work to make DOBI the best department it can possibly be."
