NASCUS Directors College Series Continues in Missouri
Nov. 16, 2011 - NASCUS, along with the Missouri Division of Credit Unions, hosted the first Missouri Directors College in Independence earlier this month.
Missouri's Director of the Division of Credit Unions Ken Bonnot began the day with a session on the regulatory expectations of a director and an overview of the credit union landscape in the state. Following Bonnot, Todd Willoughby, Senior Examiner with the Division of Credit Unions, walked attendees through a financial statement review and critical balance sheet ratios.
Next, Filene Fellow and Professor Bob Hoel followed with a presentation on shared strategies on adding value as a director. Sarah Easley, Regulatory Compliance Consultant at the Missouri Credit Union Association, closed the day with an update on important compliance issues for credit unions in today's challenging regulatory environment.
Since 2008, NASCUS has worked with state credit union regulatory agencies and state credit union leagues in Virginia, Washington, North Carolina, Michigan, Utah, Wisconsin, Texas, Tennessee, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Georgia, Illinois, Colorado and Missouri to provide regulatory, compliance and board education from the regulator's perspective to board of directors, other credit union volunteers and credit union management.
NASCUS thanks the Missouri Division of Credit Unions and the Missouri Credit Union Association for their help in making this day a success. If you are interested in bringing a directors college to your state, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
