Illinois Director Meza Appointed to NASCUS Board
April 18, 2011 NASCUS Chairman Tom Candon (VT) has appointed Illinois' Robert Meza to the NASCUS Board of Directors. He serves as the Director of Financial Institutions for the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
Meza is filling an unexpired term ending in Sept. 2011 that was held by Michigan Commissioner Ken Ross, who left the Michigan agency April 15. Meza was appointed Director of Illinois’ Financial Institutions Division in February 2008. Prior to his work at the agency, he was with Williams Acosta, PLLC, a Detroit-based law firm and he served in various leadership roles as an attorney with the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights in New York City and the Chicago Transit Authority.
“We are looking forward to gaining Director Meza’s valued expertise on the NASCUS Board of Directors,” said NASCUS President and CEO Mary Martha Fortney. “Illinois in particular has one of the largest state-chartered credit union communities and Director Meza will bring great perspective to our esteemed group of Board members.”
