NASCUS Holds Second Annual Directors College in Wisconsin

July 7, 2011 -More than 130 Wisconsin credit union directors and management gathered for a day-long NASCUS event focused on continuing education for directors on June 29, 2011 at the Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton, Wisconsin.

Since 2008, NASCUS, with the help of the host state regulator, has traveled the country to provide continuing education for directors concentrating on enhancing directors’ understanding of the critical statutory, fiduciary and regulatory responsibilities of a director.  To date, NASCUS has trained close to 900 directors in 11 states.

Like all NASCUS Director Colleges, the agenda for the Wisconsin event covered a variety of topics including a financial statement review, compliance updates, asset liability management and how to add value as a board member. The day closed with a session facilitated by Wisconsin’s Office of Credit Union’s Director Ginger Larson.  She covered today’s examination priorities and what to expect from the examination process.

The College’s faculty also included credit union veteran Bob Hoel, Nick Fanning, Senior Vice President, Investments, Corporate Central Credit Union, Bill Rockeman, Senior Credit Union Consultant, Wisconsin Credit Union League, and Bill Klewin, Associate General Counsel CUNA Mutual Group.
