Mortgage lending webinar, share insurance videos

Nov. 30, 2015 -- A webinar on mortgage lending, and new videos on federal share insurance, are the latest offerings from the NCUA.

The no-charge mortgage webinar is set for Wednesday, Dec. 16, beginning at 2 p.m. ET. Scheduled for 90 minutes, the event will cover mortgage outsourcing, mortgage best practices and compliance requirements for lenders, according to NCUA. Those topics will be discussed by a panel, which includes: John Mehmet, NCUA regional lending specialist; Joe Goldberg, NCUA staff attorney; Bob Dorsa, president of the American Credit Union Mortgage Association; and Barry Stricklin, senior vice president of lending, Tower Federal Credit Union, Laurel, Md. Dominic Carullo, an economic development specialist with NCUA’s Office of Small Credit Union Initiatives, is the host.

Participants may submit questions in advance at WebinarQuestions@ncua.gov. The subject line of the email should read, “Mortgage Lending.”

Meanwhile, today the agency debuts three new videos aimed at helping credit union members more readily understand how their accounts at federally insured credit unions are protected. Available on NCUA’s YouTube Channel, the three videos are part of NCUA’s Consumer Report series developed by the Office of Consumer Protection. The videos include a Share Insurance Coverage Overview, How to Use NCUA’s Share Insurance Estimator and Account Ownership Types.
