After Deputy Director’s resignation,
new Acting Deputy Director appointed at BCFP

July 10, 2018 -- Monday, Acting BCFP Director Mick Mulvaney announced that Brian Johnson, a former aide to House Financial Services Chairman Jeb Hensarling , will serve as acting deputy director of the agency. The appointment comes after the resignation of Leandra English, the former deputy director.

English was named deputy director of the agency in late-November just as former CFPB director Richard Cordray departed. She subsequently claimed to be the rightful acting director of the agency. However, last Friday, English relinquished those claims.

In a statement, Mulvaney noted that Johnson “was the first person he hired at the bureau and has been an indispensable advisor.”

Mulvaney also cited Johnson’s knowledge of the Bureau and his “steady character, work ethic, and commitment to free markets and consumer choice” as the basis for his appointment.
