Dear Friends and Colleagues,
Thank you for your membership in NASCUS.
It has been a busy year where, together, NASCUS members met numerous challenges, defended the state system from federal encroachment, provided essential training to credit union professionals, and identified opportunities to enhance state credit union acts.
Your support has been instrumental in enabling NASCUS to accomplish the following:
- Summarizing over 40 proposed and final rules, alerts, and guidance issued by state and federal regulators to help members stay informed on critical updates.
- Advocating for a regulatory and supervisory framework that supports flexibility and enables credit unions to serve their members and uplift marginalized communities.
- Offering dozens of professional development opportunities, including monthly webinars and online courses at no cost, ensuring accessibility for credit unions of all sizes.
- Publishing the 3rd Generation Interstate Activities Agreement facilitates state charters’ ability to operate across state lines, with 23 states now signed on to this new agreement.
- Developing resources like the “Benefits of the State Charter” guides, outlining state-specific credit union powers across nearly 20 states.
- Contributing to the modernization of credit union statutes in six states with several state Acts under review.
- Providing multiple forums for collaboration among regulators, credit unions, and leagues, including our committees, working groups, task forces, and roundtables.
- Supporting examiners nationwide, through our education foundation, the National Institute for State Credit Union Examination (NISCUE), and our partnerships to shape more robust statutes for the future.
In the coming year, NASCUS will focus on critical issues for the credit union system’s future success. With your support, NASCUS can continue our work to ensure a safe, sound, growth-oriented credit union system.
The financial services sector continues to evolve in dramatic ways. The credit union movement will have to remain vigilant to ensure our powers, operations, supervision, and regulatory framework evolve with it.
As we look to 2025, we’re grateful for your partnership in strengthening lives and communities. Your dues invoice is enclosed, and we look forward to your renewed commitment.
Thank you for your support,
Brian Knight
