Williams Joins NASCUS Regulator Board of Directors
Posted October 5, 2023ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA, (Oct. 5, 2023) — The National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors (NASCUS) is proud to announce that Brian Williams, Assistant Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Financial Institutions Credit Union Division, has been appointed to the NASCUS Regulator Board of Directors.
“I’m pleased to accept this interim role and serve in this capacity during a time of significant innovative change in our industry,” commented Williams. “I appreciate NASCUS’s work in championing the state system and keeping us informed of both state and national issues, and I look forward to working with the other board members, NASCUS leadership, regulators, and our industry to further advance the state system.”

Williams has been a dedicated Tennessee Department of Financial Institutions (TDFI) member for 26 years, contributing his expertise to the non-depository Compliance Division and the Credit Union Division. Williams has accumulated diverse professional experiences beyond his tenure at TDFI, including roles as a senior auditor at a regional bank holding company, a commercial lender, a managerial position, an executive director of a non-profit organization, and a high school teacher and leader in a GED program. Brian enjoys mountain biking, skiing, working/teaching middle and high school students, and spending time with his 18 grandchildren.
