NASCUS Thanks James Forney for Years of Service to NASCUS and the State System; Welcomes JoAnn Johnson to State Regulatory Community

Arlington, Va. — With sincere appreciation, NASCUS thanks James Forney of the Iowa Division of Credit Unions for his years of service to NASCUS and the state regulatory system. He announced his retirement today.

Forney has been an influential contributor to the NASCUS organization for more than 15 years serving as NASCUS Chairman, Board member and recipient of NASCUS' Pierre Jay Award. He was elected to the NASCUS Board of Directors in 1995, and served as NASCUS Chairman from 2000-2002.

"Throughout his regulatory career, Jim has been a champion of state's rights and a steward and guide for Iowa's state-chartered credit unions," said NASCUS President and CEO Mary Martha Fortney. "On behalf of state regulators and NASCUS, we thank Jim for his steadfast support of our organization, for enhancing the integrity of the state charter and for his enthusiasm for NASCUS. His contributions will be greatly missed." Fortney also congratulated and welcomed former National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) Chairman JoAnn Johnson to the Iowa Division of Credit Unions where she will follow Forney as the regulator of the Iowa's state-chartered credit unions. "NASCUS congratulates JoAnn and looks forward to continuing our working relationship with her as she joins the state regulatory community," said Fortney. "Her knowledge as NCUA Chairman combined with her years as a state legislator gives her a unique perspective as she begins her new role."
