Patrick "Pat" Keefe, who has more than 30 years’ experience in working for credit unions and advancing their interests through communications, has joined the National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors (NASCUS) as Director of Communications.

Keefe was most recently with the Credit Union National Association (CUNA), of Washington, D.C.; his last position there was senior vice president of communications. Before that, he was with the National Association of Federal Credit Unions (NAFCU), of Arlington, Va.; his last position there was vice president of communications.

“We’re excited to have someone with Pat’s experience and expertise join our team,” said Lucy Ito, president and CEO of NASCUS. “Our overall communications goal is to raise the visibility of our issues and our association in the interests of our members -- and credit union members nationwide -- as well as to promote the safety and soundness of and innovation in the state credit union system. This addition to our staff, we believe, will play an essential role in achieving that goal.”

Keefe holds a BS from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Ariz., and an MS from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md.

“It’s a great privilege to work on behalf of credit unions, and I look forward to advancing their interests wherever possible,” Keefe said.

The National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors (NASCUS) is the primary resource and voice of the state governmental agencies that charter, regulate and examine the nation’s state-chartered credit unions. NASCUS membership is made up of state-chartered credit unions, state regulators and other supporters of the state credit union system. NASCUS is the only organization dedicated to the defense and promotion of the state credit union charter and the autonomy of state credit union regulatory agencies.
