NASCUS Holding Leadership and Regional Regulator Meetings this Week

June 8, 2010 — The NASCUS Board of Directors and Credit Union Executive Council will join NASCUS management in Chicago, Illinois this week for association business meetings. NASCUS Chairman Tom Candon (VT) will also host a regional regulator meeting on June 9 with state regulators from six states.

The NASCUS Board of Directors and Credit Union Executive Council will conduct business meetings June 10-11. The groups plan to discuss NASCUS' budget for fiscal year 2010-2011, as well as regulatory reform, examination issues and other organization business. The NASCUS Board and Credit Union Executive Council meet in person three times a year, in addition to periodic conference calls.

Prior to the business meetings, NASCUS Chairman Tom Candon (VT) will hold the last in the series of NASCUS Regional Regulator Meetings at the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. This annual series is aimed at providing small group settings for state regulators to discuss regional and national issues of mutual interest. On the agenda for discussion are topics such as proposed rules, pending legislation and examination issues. State regulators in attendance will also have the opportunity to share information on state-specific issues with their peers.

"NASCUS anticipates productive leadership and regulator meetings this week in Chicago," said NASCUS President and CEO Mary Martha Fortney. "Given the level of activity on the legislative and regulatory fronts, this in-person dialogue comes at a perfect time as we continue to shape our association response and activity with regard to current events in the credit union system."
