NASCUS and State Regulators Express Appreciation for Gigi Hyland's Service on NCUA Board

September 21, 2012 - As her term ends, NASCUS thanks National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) Board member Gigi Hyland for her commitment to the credit union dual chartering system during her service on the NCUA Board.

"Board member Hyland was diligent in her efforts to meet with NASCUS leadership and state credit union regulators during her term as an NCUA Board member. In her role as NASCUS/NCUA liaison, she was instrumental in helping to update the NCUA/NASCUS Document of Cooperation, a vital agreement between NASCUS and NCUA which demonstrates the value of a cooperative state/NCUA relationship to the health of federally insured, state-chartered credit unions and to the insurance fund," said Mary Martha Fortney, NASCUS President and CEO.

“It has been a great honor and privilege to work with Gigi during my time on the NASCUS Board and particularly during the past year as I have served as Chairman,” said NASCUS Chairman Orla Beth Peck, Supervisor of Credit Unions Utah Department of Financial Institution. “She has always facilitated open communication and dialogue between the NCUA and NASCUS and recognized that federal and state regulators are partners in facilitating credit union safety and soundness.”

Fortney further expressed the Association’s appreciation for Hyland's leadership over the years. "NASCUS has enjoyed working with Gigi for many years, beginning with her role as the Executive Director of the Association of Corporate Credit Unions." said Fortney, "We thank Gigi for her commitment to state and federal regulator cooperation and wish her well in her future endeavors.”
