NASCUS Congratulates NCUA Board Member Rick Metsger on Being Named NCUA Vice Chairman

August 4, 2014 The National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors (NASCUS) today congratulated National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) Board member Rick Metsger on being named vice chairman of NCUA by NCUA Board Chairman Debbie Matz.

“We have appreciated Board member Metsger’s candor and openness to dialogue with the state system,” said NASCUS President and CEO Mary Martha Fortney. “We look forward to continuing to work with him and offer our congratulations.”

Metsger was nominated for an NCUA Board term by President Barack Obama on May 16, 2013. His term will expire on Aug. 2, 2017. He participated in his first NCUA Board meeting on Sept. 12, 2013, after he was confirmed by the U.S. Senate.

Metsger served as president of a strategic affairs consulting firm prior to joining the NCUA Board. He served in the Oregon State Senate from 1999-2011, and his committee assignments included chairing the Senate Business Committee as well as extensive work in the areas of financial services, transportation and economic development policy. He was elected Senate President Pro Tempore in 2009. Metsger previously served on the board of the Portland Teachers Credit Union.
