NASCUS makes the State System case at NCUA budget hearing

Oct. 17, 2018 --Today, NASCUS presented at NCUA’s 2019-2020 Budget Briefing. At the hearing, held at the agency’s headquarters, NASCUS Vice President, Communications, Shelton Roulhac, outlined areas of concern to the state system.

“We applaud the NCUA board for employing a ‘principles-based approach’ to calculating OTR and subjecting the OTR to public notice and comment,” said Roulhac. “We value the collaborative nature of our relationship and look forward to the OTR review in 2020, unless there is a proposed change to the methodology sooner.”

Roulhac also requested NCUA assist in ensuring state examiners have access to BCFP trainings and that the board provide adequate funding for NCUA, state regulators and credit unions to share examination-related information in a secure manner.

NCUA proposed a $304.4 million operating budget for 2019 in September and will accept comments until October 26.
